The floating witch broom trend is a short Halloween AI video in which someone rides a witch broom right next to a moving car, keeps pace with the window and then gets a comeuppance. In the version most people share, the rider smashes into a road sign, floats back to tease the driver and gets hit by lightning a few seconds later. Since early October 2026 people have been putting themselves, their friends and their cats on that broom and posting the result on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

What is the floating witch broom trend?

It is one joke told in about 15 seconds of vertical video, filmed as if from the passenger seat of a car on a country road:

  1. The ride. A rider sits on a witch broom a few feet from the car window, matching its speed over the grass at the side of the road.
  2. The crash. The broom drifts a little too far ahead and slams into a yellow road sign. Splinters fly and the rider is gone.
  3. The comeback. A moment later the rider is back at the window, hair blown flat by the wind, leaning in for a close-up and pointing a finger at the driver.
  4. The ending. The rider shoots up into a stormy sky and a lightning bolt strikes the broom.

Floating witch broom AI video frames: riding the broom beside the car, the road sign crash, the close-up at the window and the lightning strike

The camera never moves away from the car, so the whole thing looks like a phone clip someone grabbed on the way home. That ordinary framing is what makes it funny. Nothing about it looks like a movie, it looks like a commute that went wrong.

You will also see it called the witch broom flying trend, the flying broom trend or simply "the broom next to the car." All of these names point to the same clip.

Is it the same as the floating broom Halloween decoration?

No. If you search for "floating witch broom" you will also find animated broomsticks sold as Halloween decorations, the kind that hang from a porch and sway when someone walks past. The trend has nothing to do with those props. It is an AI video format where a person or a pet rides the broom on screen.

Is it the same as My Ride Is Here or the witch broom crash?

No. Those are two other broom clips that went around TikTok at the same time. In My Ride Is Here a witch in a pointed hat floats across an intersection in front of a car stopped at a red light. In the witch broom crash the camera stands on a quiet street while the rider flies toward it and smashes into a road sign at the curb. The floating witch broom clip is the one filmed from inside a moving car on a country road, and it ends with a lightning strike. Our flying broomstick AI guide compares all three side by side.

Where did the floating witch broom clip come from?

We could not find a single original post that started it. The clip we built our template on was shared on Facebook Reels as an AI video, captioned "Me when cars pass me," with a horror movie clown on the broom. We replaced that character with our own fictional rider, so nothing in our version shows the clown. We kept the original ride, crash, comeback and lightning strike.

Because a witch needs a cat. Black cats and witches have gone together in Halloween pictures for generations, so a cat on a witch broom reads as Halloween before the clip even gets going. Pet accounts saw that right away and started posting cat flying on a broom videos alongside the human ones.

There is also a simpler reason: a cat calmly riding a broom next to a car is absurd in a way a person is not. A person on a broom is a costume. A cat on a broom is a cat that has clearly been planning this for years.

If your cat is the star of your Halloween posts, this is one of the easier trends to join, since you only need one good photo of your cat.

How do you make a floating witch broom AI video from one photo?

You do not need CapCut, a green screen or any editing skills. The floating witch broom AI video generator on EAST.IM keeps the road, the corn fields, the car and the camera from the clip and replaces only the rider:

  1. Upload one photo. Use a clear photo of yourself from head to shoes, or a photo of your cat with its whole body in view. The AI first turns it into a clean full body picture.
  2. Pick the quality and create. Choose 480p, 720p or 1080p, tick the consent box and press Create video.
  3. Download and post. The finished clip waits in My Videos for 48 hours.

You keep the outfit from your photo, so you will not be dressed as a witch unless you are in the photo. If you want the full Halloween look, put on a witch hat or a cape before you take the picture. A cat keeps its own fur and markings.

Here is our own example video on YouTube, made with one of our fictional characters.

Which photos work best, for people and for cats?

For people, the best photo is a sharp full body shot of one person facing the camera, with the shoes in the frame and the face evenly lit. Blurry, dark or partly covered photos are the most common reason a result misses.

For cats, pick one cat in good light with the face and body clearly visible. Avoid photos where the cat is curled into a ball or half hidden behind a blanket. Keep in mind that a cat does not move like a person, so a cat on a witch broom will sometimes look a little odd. That is part of the charm, but it also means some results will miss.

Whatever you upload, use your own photo, a photo of your own pet or one of someone who agreed to be in the video. Do not upload strangers, children or public figures.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Each video is about 15 seconds long, vertical (9:16) and keeps the original audio of the clip. The price depends on the quality you pick:

QualityCredits per video
480p800
720p3,500
1080p8,000

The price is shown on the Create video button before you start. You need to sign in, and video tools are open to subscribers and credit pack buyers. Free monthly credits cannot be used for video. A video is usually ready in 10 to 20 minutes, and if it fails the credits go back automatically.

Can you post your witch broom video on TikTok for Halloween?

Yes, as a personal post. Download the MP4 within 48 hours, add your own Halloween tags and turn on the AI label when you post. Do not sell the clip or use it in ads. EAST.IM is not affiliated with TikTok or CapCut.

If you are planning a few Halloween posts, this clip works well as a short opener: it is under 15 seconds and it ends on a clear payoff.
